Art

The genesis of art at Hurlingham was with the 3rd Earl of Egremont, a previous owner of the Clubhouse and patron of J M W Turner. Today the Club continues to enjoy a series of art courses and an exhibition.

Annual Art Exhibition

Each spring, since 1966, talented individuals, from within the membership, submit pieces of their work for display at the annual art exhibition housed in the east wing. Entries include:

  • Drawings
  • Handicrafts
  • Paintings
  • Photography
  • Pottery
  • Sculptures
  • Silk screens
  • Children's art (for which prizes are awarded)

The 2010 Art Exhibition saw a record number of entries with over 300 pieces being exhibited. The Dinner and Opening Ceremony was opened by Sir Peter Hall.
